1. Welcome to CaraLink

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CaraLink platform, including our website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by CaraLink Inc. ("CaraLink," "we," "us," or "our").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of a minor child, you represent that you are the child's parent or legal guardian.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account on CaraLink. The Service is designed for parents and legal guardians to arrange playdates and social activities for their children (ages 0 to 10). Children may not create accounts or use the Service directly.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your profile information updated. You may not create accounts using false identities or impersonate another person.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a safety risk to our community.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use CaraLink only for its intended purpose: connecting families for playdates and social activities. You may not:

Use the Service for any commercial purpose or solicitation
Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users
Post false, misleading, or deceptive information
Share other users' personal information without their consent
Use automated tools to scrape, collect, or access data from the Service
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

5. Children's Information

CaraLink collects limited information about children (first name, date of birth, and gender) solely to provide age-appropriate matching between families. This information is provided by parents or guardians and is subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable children's privacy laws, including COPPA.

Parents and guardians may review, update, or request deletion of their children's information at any time by contacting us at privacy@caralink.com.

6. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service (such as profile information, messages, and photos). By posting content, you grant CaraLink a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content solely in connection with operating the Service.

You are responsible for the content you post. We may remove content that violates these Terms or that we determine is harmful to our community.

7. Safety and Meetups

CaraLink facilitates introductions between families but does not conduct background checks, verify identities beyond email authentication, or supervise meetups. You are solely responsible for evaluating the suitability and safety of any in-person interactions arranged through the Service.

We strongly recommend meeting in public places for initial playdates and taking appropriate precautions for your family's safety.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, content, and underlying technology, is owned by CaraLink Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without our prior written consent.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CARALINK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING DAMAGES RELATED TO IN-PERSON MEETUPS ARRANGED THROUGH THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings or by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if we determine it is necessary to protect the safety of our community.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. We will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, subject to any legal retention requirements.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Alameda County, California.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on the Service and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
